Completed in August 2002, the Hermiston High School Addition and Remodel consisted of a 200,000 sf addition planned around an existing 60,000 sf classroom and gymnasium building, for a population of 1600 students. The addition replaced four existing camplus planned buildings and several portables creating a single building on the existing campus.
All school programs and functions remained in place throughout the two-phase construction schedule.Daylighting throughout all spaces was emphasized with the use of roof monitors, clerestory lighting, and light shelves for shading. The building forms and use of exposed steel responds to the agricultural setting of eastern Oregon.
As job captain, Angie was involved in the project from the earliest programming through the construction documents phase while working at Architects SLX
